WebSupermicro X11 minimum fan speed Hello, I have a Supermicro X11SSL-CF board running with 4 PWM fans around the case. When I initially installed the first two PWM fans I figured out how to fix the pulsing fan issue by changing the fan thresholds with the ipmitool utility. WebNov 18, 2024 · Initially they were spooling up and down every few seconds, so I searched and found these threads, then used ipmitool to set some appropriate thresholds and selected "optimal" fan mode. This stopped the spooling up & down behavior but unfortunately seems to have fixed the fans at 100% duty cycle.

Web# VERY IMPORTANT: SuperMicro boards -REQUIRE- the fan mode be set to "Full Speed Mode" # for ipmitool to be able to control fan speeds. It is therefore recommended to use the # companion script I've included in this repository (ipmi_fans_startup.sh) to force this # mode on startup. WebI kept my settings simple with some basic thresholds ( -l is low threshold and -h is max speed): % ipmiutil sensor -N 192.168.1.14 -U ADMIN -P ADMIN -n 41 -l 600 -h 6000 ... WebApr 16, 2024 · Many server motherboards, including the Supermicro X10 series, have their fans monitored by the BMC, which automatically attempts to recover stalling (of the motor, not in the aerodynamic sense) fans by spinning them up to maximum (PWM set to 100% speed). This behavior is determined by the sensor thresholds. WebAnswer. The minimum of fan speed from IPMI setting is 300 R.P.M and IPMI always keeps on tracking the fan speed.
