Aquinas begins his discussion of divine simplicity by asking whether God is a body or composed of matter and form (I.3.1‒2). He rejects these on the grounds that God is pure act. By saying that God is ‘pure act’ he means that there is no potential in God ‒ he simply is. WebbDivine simplicity is central to the classical Western concept of God.
