Students that utilize Renaissance Accelerated Reader, which provides readability levels on all of the system’s books, will find the ZPD to be extremely helpful. However, the ZPD is approximative. A number of studies have been conducted regarding the effectiveness of using Accelerated Reader in the classroom. The following two studies were reviewed by the What Works Clearinghouse and were found to meet their high standards for research.
